October 23, 1922

Madam:

     In response to your letter of September 19, 1922, you are advised that from the papers in the Revolutionary War pension claim S4844 it appears that Dan Peck, son of Silas Peck, Sr. of Lyme, New London County, Connecticut, was born in Nova Scotia in 1762.

     While residing at Lyme, connecticut he enlisted with his father, who served as a steward, in the fall of 1776 and serned three months as a private under Captain Calkins and Colonel Ely.

     On March 1, 1778 or '79 he enlisted and served nine months under Lieutenant Avery as Lieutenant Governor Griswold's Guard posted at Black Hill near the Governor's residence at Lyme, Connecticut.

     He enlisted in the spring of 1779 or '80 and served six months under Lieutenant higgins.   In 1781 served two months in which service he did not remember commanding officers.   Again in 1781 he enlisted and served nearly nine months under Captain Selden and Colonel Butler.

     He lived in Lyme, Connecticut until 1811 when he moved to Ashtabula County, Ohio where he was living in Lyme Twonship when he was allowed pension on his application executed August 15, 1832.

     It is not stated that he ever married.
