this is the school my Grandmother Packer attended. Mother Steamer City Lowell. O. E. " (O.E. was Orris E. Thayer) The front of the card was postmarked New London Aug. 27, 1904 addressed to Stella R. Thayer, Frewsburg, N.Y. Across the end of the card was written: "My Grandmother was born May 3rd, 1782 in New London, Sophie Sanders, Mrs. James Packer." Additional note: Emma Markham married Orris E. Thayer about June 1869. I believe that it was Emma Markham's grandmother mentioned above rather than Orris Thayer's. Susan Irish |
