Church Records for Fairfield County, Connecticut.

[4 Feb 99] Barbara Andersen sent me a note offering information she'd received and organized from records of the New Fairfield, Connecticut Congregational Church. Barbara said, " I have, on my computer, records from the New Fairfield Congregational church. They are general church records, naming many people that were doing things in the church: marriages, births, baptisms and deaths. They are not complete as the person that sent them to me said her aunt had copied only what related to their families, plus there were many pages missing from the church records. Even with all that, I have about a hundred pages of information, I have alphabetized all of it by activity. The dates covered are 1700s to late 1800's. I would be willing to accept E-mail queries if there is some place to put the information."
Following that initial offer, Barbara sent me the following attached to the file: "Please note: The spellings are copied as typed. Many appear to be incorrect in the earlier years, while later year's spellings seemed to be more correct. You will also find some surnames together although the spellings differ slightly. This is because the spellings seemed to change often. (Example: Beardslee & Beardsley) Records are in alphabetical order (by man's name first, whether it's a, birth, death etc.). Marriages are in two lists (grooms & brides) to make finding them easier.
These records are not complete. The pages given to me were only pages that had the names on them that were being researched, plus there were pages missing from the original documents. These records were copied directly from the church records and are believed not have ever been published."
