I am looking for a Nathanel ( ? spelling ) Cook father of Samuel B. Cook born Dec. 13, 1784 in Conn. and died in NY State Aug. 02, 1856. Samuel B. Cook married Sarah Sallie Lewis from Conn. Sallie born Sept. 14, 1780 was the daughter of Asa and Polly Lewis. I have no marriage date. This information came from the Stonington, CT Vital Records, Vol 3, Page 186. I have no dates for Nathanel but he is reported to have been married to a lady with the last name of Brown. He is also reported to have served in the Revolutionary War under the direct command of George Washington. I have not written the National Archives since my information is so scanty. It is necessary to validate him as the father of Samuel B. Brown in order to submit a DAR Application. I sometimes wonder if Nathanel may have come from Mass. to Conn. Any assistance would be greatly appreciate. I have a lot of Cook information which I would gladly share but need instruction as how to do this. Nathanel was my third great-grandfather.I thank you for in advance for any help.

Need information on the parentage of Jareb PALMER who was born in Stonington, one of six sons. This Palmer family remained true to the Crown in Revolutionary times, except for the youngest son, Jareb. The rest of the family was run off to Canada. Jareb joined forces with Ethan ALLEN and the Green Mountain Boys, serving under Ira Allen. Jareb married Esther RICE, daughter of Stephen RICE & Waitie ALLEN, May 22, 1787 at Tinmouth, VT. In 1813 he moved with his family to Troy, Pennsylvania, purchasing acreage at the foot of Armenia Mountain. How does Jareb fit in to the other PALMERS of Stonington?

I am looking for information concerning the death of my gtgrandfather, Stephen Turple Goodwin, October 13, 1898 in Stonington, CT. He apparently was on the landing of a train car waiting to return to MA when he was shot. Conflicting accounts say it was self inflicted and the other says that it was a hunters bullett. He was shot in the head. Any information about Stephen Goodwin would be appreciated. He was a mason by trade and was born in either NS or NB. Married and had three children. Is there someone who would try to locate a local newspaper which may have had an obituary or notice about his death within the few days following his death?
